I recieved my learners permit last November and my stepdad has been trying to teach me to drive ever since. I have allready taken a drivers education class but for some reason I just can’t get the hang of it. When I first started out I didn’t even know that you were supposed to drive on the right side of the road! (yeah I’m that bad!) and I am always forgetting simple things like signaling before you switch lanes and yielding to other cars before you turn left. I feel like I am NEVER going to get the hang of it. Can anybody else relate? Or does anybody else know a cool way to become a better driver?

Hi, ive just turned 18, i have a driving test 6th may, so about 5 weeks or so. Now ive had 12 hours worth of driving with 1 instructor that my friend used (he passed 1st time). However, i get on with him and i don’t. I feel like im not learning much. Last wednesday i had a lesson and i felt it went well, however friday i had a lesson where i was ment to be practicing reverse park, and didn’t start that til about 20minutes from the end of the lesson, and the reason i didn’t start straight away was because i was doing things wrong, i can drive basically, but im just shit at reading the road and all, i don’t feel ive learnt much for 12hours, i know it’s not alot, but im looking to do only 20-25 hours. Im really determined to do this as i want to be driving for the summer.

Ive asked my parents for advice and they said to try a different instructor, like my brothers. So i rung them up today and booked a lesson for wednesday, however it was a woman, not being sexist or nothing but my brother said he had the woman instructor for a lesson before and she was a bit "scatty", now, i haven’t got a job so aint exactly got money to throw away, i don’t want to keep trying different instructors, but just thinking of having another shit lesson like i did on friday makes me not want to use the one i use at the moment. However ive done all my lessons so far with him so he knows how good i am at some things, how shit i am. I don’t want to delay my test so im going to have to start doing alot of lessons a week but only am looking to do about 20-25 hours. I really want this, however im not intrested into cars one bit, but i know not everyone is. What is best for me to do? Should i cancel the lesson i just booked because i don’t fancy wasting money.

Are there any driving schools of teens that teach emergency maneuvers in NJ?

Like I know tirerack has the street survival school with the skid pads and stuff but there’s no room. anything else like it in NJ ? preferably ones that you can use your own cars?
